Wellbeing Coffee Mornings 2025

Firstly, thank you to all the parents that attended the wellbeing coffee mornings that were held before the February half-term. Please find the slides used during the presentation at the bottom of the page.

As you are probably aware the wellbeing and mental health of children across the country has very much been in the news over the last year and it is an area that we take very seriously. Over the last few years the provision to support our children's mental health at St John's has grown. We have a full-time ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), a play therapist, a children's counsellor as well as various interventions, such as art therapy that take place across the year. We also have Mind in West Essex who offer sessions to support children and our families during the school day.

We value the support that these services provide but ensuring our children have a healthy mental health starts with us, which is why routine, exercise and a healthy diet are important. We know that children need to develop their confidence and self-esteem and we as educators and parents have a huge role to play in this. Above everything our children need to feel valued and loved in order to develop their resilience and ability to cope with with the normal stresses of life.
