Shelly Tallowin

It is a privilege to be a class teacher in Year 3 at St. John's CofE Primary School. My other professional responsibilities include phase leader for LKS2 and I am the Maths subject leader across all phases.

There is something special about being a member of the St. John's community. As a school team, we pride ourselves on understanding every individual pupil and channeling positive attitudes to learning through an engaging curriculum. We place a high priority on responsible and equitable citizenship through our core Christian values. I am passionate about delivering the best opportunities in school so that children discover a life-long love of learning.

Although I have been in education for over ten years, I started my career as a graphic designer. I am a creative thinker who loves art and design. As I have experience in industry, I enjoy making links between the subjects we teach and how they are needed to fulfill professional job roles in the real world. When I started my family and watched my son's educational experience, I became fascinated by how children learn, develop and grow within the right nurturing environment for them. I volunteered in school and saw the affirmative impact a teacher has on their class and I knew I had found my vocation in life.

As a newly appointed governor in 2022, I am looking forward to helping the governor team and having a greater positive impact on wider school relationships and initiatives.
