Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to St John’s, a traditional school for the 21st Century. 

I am delighted to be the Head Teacher at St John's C of E Primary School in Buckhurst Hill. It is a great privilege to work with the children, parents, staff team and governors and to take overall responsibility for ensuring that we secure the best outcomes for our children. 

I am clear that it is only through collaboration and developing a strong home school partnership that children at St John's will realise their full potential and truly flourish. I am excited to be a part of their journey through their primary school years.

I have a determined drive to deliver the best education for our young people and that means recruiting and developing highly talented, ambitious and professional staff. Whilst I value the importance of English and Maths to enable children to access the wider curriculum and prepare them well for the future, a broader understanding of foundation subjects is essential. At St John's we have some fantastic artists, dancers, technologists, musicians and sports people to name just a few. I believe that we should celebrate and promote a broad curriculum to enrich children's lives and enjoyment of a love of learning. 

Over 20 years experience in education tells me that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and valued as individuals. The staff team will work tirelessly to ensure children are given the very best opportunities to succeed.
