Year 6 Dance Festival

Keeping Dance Alive is an annual mass choreography programme in legacy of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Performances run Essex wide in conjunction with The Dance Network Association and encourage education and community groups to participate in memorable Dance and Sports Events at high profile venues and community events such as this on a smaller scale.
This year’s programme is called Bard to Bollywood and is designed to mark the 2017 UK-India Year of Culture to celebrate the UK’s cultural ties with India. The work will also commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, and whose First Folio of work will be touring India during 2017.
Today, Epping Forest District Council in partnership with Loughton Town Council  bring together pupils from Staples Road Primary School in Loughton who are representing the Montague family from Romeo and Juliet and St John’s Primary School in Buckhurst Hill who represent the Capulets. We also have some children from Flashdancers in Epping performing who recently took part in the other performances across Essex.
The children have been coached by Sam Roberts and Elysia Tebb, local Dance Artists, once a week over the last two months.
We hope you enjoy this unique performance. Please give the children lots of support.
