Year 5 Maya Visit

On Thursday 6th October, Year 5 were lucky enough to be visited by a Mayan archaeologist, Dr Diane Davis.  The whole day was packed full of fascinating facts, activities and artefacts.  Dr Davis told the children all about her time in Central America, discovering more and more about the Maya civilisation.  The children were amazed to know that the Maya people still exist today!  She shared so many wonderful artefacts, ranging from roycal chocolate pots to an amazing replica of a jade mask that would have been buried in a very special tomb, belonging to a king.  The children also learnt about the amazing Maya calendar and even got to make one themselves.  Overall, a fun filled day that was enjoyed by all!
