Prize Giving - 17th July 2017

St. John's Pupils, staff and parents celebrated another successful year of academic and sporting success, at our 11th Annual Prize Giving, on Monday evening.  The evening commenced with drinks in the courtyard and a chance for parents and children to mingle and chat.  Proceedings then moved into the church for the presentations to begin.  After an opening introduction from Mr Tidmarsh, we were happy to invite - for the fourth year -       Mr Michael Watts (partner) from Haslers Chartered Accountants, along with Mr Jarmain and Mrs Clark,  to present the academic awards.  Twenty three awards were presented, for progress and attainment, over four subjects - Reading, Spelling Punctuation and Grammar, Maths and Writing.

We then moved onto the sporting awards.  These awards are presented to children for, not only, sporting excellence but also to those who show team spirit, encouragement of others, determination and resilience.   There is also a presentation for children who have broken previous school records; this year we were happy to invite two previous recipients of school records - Kojo Opare (Boys' triple jump) and Katie Petyt (Girls' long jump and 600m) to present the awards to the new record breakers in their events.  All in all four new records were set this year - girls' long jump, boys' triple jump, girl's javelin and girls' 600m - which is an amazing achievement.  18 individual awards were presented along with an award for The Team of the Year, which this year went to The District Sports Team.  All the children were presented with medals as a momento of their achievement.  A big well done to all the children who received an award.
