Nativity Week

It’s been a week of Nativity Plays.

I am sure you will agree that the children in Early Years and Years 1 and 2 performed and sang beautifullyand we should be very proud of their accomplishments. Recordings of each production can be ordered either using the form recently sent home in book bags or by using this link. Orders must be in by Monday please. http://st-johns-school.com/PTA/Special-Offers /

In addition to the video recording we have also had each performance professionally photographed and these images will be available next week. Details to follow.

Many thanks to the PTA for their support of these productions including our new scenery my thanks also to all the staff for going the extra mile and ensuring that each performance was such a success.

British Museum Visit

If it wasn’t busy enough with Christmas Year 3 enjoyed a very successful visit to the British Museum on Thursday.

Crossing Patrol

We received the following communication this week from Richard Watson School Crossing Patrol Co- ordinator for Epping Forest, Harlow, Uttlesford & Braintree.

‘I am writing to advise that our Mobile School Crossing Patrol who has covered the School Crossing Patrol Site at Church Road for some time, has resigned and is leaving at the end of term. Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to provide cover once he leaves and the site will be vacant until a suitable candidate is identified and an appointment is made.

If it would help the situation I am willing to train a member of school staff or a parent to cover the site until a new member of staff is available to start. If this is an option, please let me know as soon as possible and I will visit the school to make the necessary arrangements. I have attached an advert so that the job can be advertised on the school website. The job reference for the Church Road vacancy is 4326 and the reference for the Mobile Officer vacancy is 9180. Any assistance you can give us will be much appreciated’.

Details of the post should accompany this email. Please spread the word and let’s see if between us we can fill this vacancy. Many thanks for your help in this matter.

Christmas Jumpers

Following a request from some Year 5 pupils I have agreed that the children can wear their Christmas Jumpers for the lunch on Tuesday. These should be brought separately to school only to worn at lunchtime. Please do not purchase a jumper just for this day. It is purely optional and any non-school sweater will suffice. I felt it would be very ‘Scrooge Like’ of me to refuse such a request!

Christmas Card Competition

Congratulations to Sadie Annandale, Year 5, who was one of the runner ups in the recent Christmas Card competition organised by our MP Eleanor Laing on the theme of Santa Visits Big Ben. This afternoon the children enjoyed an excellent Pantomime staged by over 50 members of staff. Containing songs, dance and a Mannequin Challenge I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their efforts at this particularly busy time of year. We are still waiting for the West End offers to flood in!

Have a good weekend.

Yours sincerely,
