Friday Round Up 4/11/16

I hope you had an enjoyable half term.

Operation Christmas Child

Just to remind you that these boxes are due back to school by Friday 11th November. Many thanks for your generosity by supporting this initiative.

Coffee Morning

Many thanks to all the parents who attended the coffee morning today. Apart from the website, which was the main item we also discussed reading, academy status and how House captains are selected.

 Finance Manager

We are now recruiting a new Finance Manager. This post is for 3 days a week, 39 weeks a year during term time. Please spread the word to anyone who may be interested. Pre application visits, for anybody not familiar with the school, are highly recommend.  Details of the role and application form are on the website.  The closing date is Friday 11th November.

Remembrance Services- Friday 11th November

Years 3,4,5 and 6 will be joining Loyola Prep School and the Royal British Legion for our annual Remembrance Service which this year will be held at Loyola. Years 1,2 and EY will attend a Service here at St John’s. As a mark of respect I would ask you to ensure that your child wears a poppy on this day. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Parent/Teacher Consultation Letters

You should have received this at the start of the week and it is due back today please. Just to clarify that pupils in Years 3,4,5 and 6 are encouraged to accompany their parents to these meetings. We leave this decision to the discretion of parents in Year 2. We suggest that children in Early Years (Reception) and Year 1 do not accompany their parents. Apologies for any confusion caused by the original letter.

Other reminders

  • Phonics Meeting for Year 1 Parents – Tuesday 15th November 2.30pm
  • School Photographs returned by – Friday 18th
  • Flu Vaccination forms returned by Wednesday 9th

You be aware that Mr Vincent the Headteacher of Buckhurst Hill County Primary school left his position at half term. The Deputy Headteacher will now take over responsibility for the school and I have been asked to support her as she settles into the role and a new Headteacher is appointed. At times, therefore, I will be at BHCP. It is only for a limited period and does not mean I moving to this school……. Just in case you hear an inaccurate rumour!!

Have a safe weekend and enjoy the fireworks.

Yours sincerely,

P.J.Tidmarsh

Headmaster
