Friday Round Up 2/12/16

Christmas Events

Last week you should have received, by email, a full list of School and Church Christmas events. Apologies for the typo regarding the choir performance- They are performing on the 7th not the 14th December. Please check book bags for details of our Church events over the Christmas period.

Along with this email you should also receive details of the Woodford Pantomime as well as a special worship service on Sunday 11 December at Buckhurst Hill Baptist Church. You are invited to join them for a morning of worship and music with pre-school nativity songs and then the acclaimed Philippa Hanna. Philippa Hanna is an acclaimed British singer- songwriter, based in Sheffield, UK. Recorded in Nashville, her new album 'Speed of Light' offers listeners a message of hope. As one of the most sought-after acoustic performers in the UK, she has opened tours for acts including Lionel Richie, Anastacia, Leona Lewis, Wet Wet Wet and Collabro.

Front Office

As St John’s has grown so has the pressure on the front office to provide an efficient service for the school community. However, this is becoming increasingly more difficult due to a large number of parents dropping items off for their children such as packed lunches, musical instruments and even items of clothing. Can I therefore politely ask parents to keep these interruptions to a minimum and to encourage their children to be as independent as possible and remember these items for themselves. Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

Essex County Football Final

Congratulations to the school football team who played in the Essex County Championships this week. Unbeaten up to the semi-final they were knocked out with penalties. The highs and lows of sport! Nevertheless to be representing Epping Forest at this event is an excellent accomplishment and the team and staff should be proud of their achievement.

School Finance Manager

Following our recent advertisement for the post of Finance Manager I am pleased to announce that we have appointed Mrs Elaine Freedman, a qualified accountant, to this position with effect from the 5th January 2017. I am sure you will join me in welcoming her to our school. Just to remind you that Christmas Lunch needs to be booked by the 8th December.

Please come along and support the Christmas Fayre tomorrow from 11am to 3pm

Have a good weekend.

Yours sincerely,
