Friday Round Up 14/10/16

Three have already taken place and those parents were notified separately. We have two next week which affects parents in Years 2,3,4 and 5. I hope you find this table useful and a copy will be placed on the school Website.

Chess Club- Mondays 12.30 to 1.30pm

We have a very popular chess club which has run for a number of years with the support of Mrs Fox. We would welcome some additional help as the club is so popular. Please let me know if you are available; you don’t have to be a world champion!

Cleaning Vacancy

We have a vacancy for an early morning cleaner 6.30 to 8.30am every morning during term time with overtime available in the school holidays. Please see Mrs Seal in the front office if you are interested.

Operation Christmas Child

Next week you should also receive a leaflet, in the children’s book bag, concerning Operation Christmas Child. This Buckhurst Hill based charity organises the distribution of shoeboxes, filled with gifts, to needy children across central and Eastern Europe. Although they distributed over one million boxes last year, they estimate there is a further six million children who will not receive a gift this Christmas. If you would like to take part in this worthy scheme, the leaflet outlines the type of gifts that are appropriate. Please include a toothbrush and toothpaste and you may wish to include a photograph or Christmas card. All shoeboxes should be sent into school no later than Friday November 11th please. This would make an excellent half term project, clearly demonstrating our school value of Caring. Last year St John’s contributed over 200 boxes to the appeal!

Gold School Games Mark

I am delighted to announce that St John’s has been awarded a Gold School Games Mark for its outstanding sports programme and development of sports leaders. This is a national award recognising the hard work of St John’s community in maintaining our high sporting achievements. So from children competing, coaches teaching through to parents supporting and giving lifts...... well done, an excellent achievement.

Visits this Week

Year One visited the Museum of Childhood and Year 6 The Royal Courts of Justice.

Website

Please take a moment to look at our new website which has kindly been sponsored by the PTA. On the 4th November at our Parents Coffee Morning I would like to spend some of the time reflecting on you are finding the new site and what changes we can make to further improve it. Details of the Coffee Morning are in the table above and I look forward to seeing you there.
