I was honoured to have been elected as a Parent Governor for St John's in 2022, having lived in the area for over a decade, with my son attending the school since 2019. This was just as the pandemic started and that time really brought home the effort that the staff at the school put in to getting the most out of each pupil and really made me want to give something back to support them.
The school's focus on developing the whole child, not just focussing on targets is something that very much resonates with me and I want to do what I can to ensure that all children leave St John's with a love of learning.
I strongly believe St John's provides an environment for children to explore the world, discover what they are passionate about, without letting the core subjects slip, and develop where they want to develop too.
In the current environment there's always a cost to this sort of thing. I am a chartered accountant with more than 10 years post-qualification experience working in financial services focussing on financial planning and analysis, though more recently in a risk and controls function. I hope to be able to bring this experience to the LGC to help them plan and manage their funding as efficiently as possible and also to ensure that the School identifies and manages its risks with equal efficiency to ensure that the school continues to give all its pupils the best possible start in life
