Communicating to support your child

HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE WITH YOU?

We create many opportunities for the school and the staff to communicate with you. Here is a comprehensive list (in no particular order):

  • Monthly 'The Link" Newsletters
  • Parents' Evening consultations (Autumn/Spring)
  • Meet the Teacher events
  • Reading Record Books
  • Email communication (via the School Office)
  • Twitter / Instagram
  • Speaking to parents at the end of the school day
  • Telephone conversations
  • End of Year reports

HOW CAN YOU COMMUNICATE WITH US?

  • Arrange to meet with the class teacher / deputy head teacher / head teacher
  • Speak to the class teacher after school when all the children have been collected
  • Write a letter or note to the class teacher
  • Add comments in the reading record book
  • Speak with the Head Teacher or Deputy Head in the mornings / afternoons on the gate, each day
  • Telephone the school, 0208 5042934 or email: office@stjohns.efspt.org
  • Notify us of your child's absence: 0208 5042934 or online
  • Contact PTA Chair / Committee Members

PLEASE DO NOT...

  • Email class teachers directly. This is not an efficient way of managing or resolving email communication. Class Teachers also need to be protected from receiving emails during evenings and weekends. Do email the office@stjohns.efspt.org instead.
  • Try to speak to class teachers in the mornings because the morning routine and being present for the children in the class is critical. Instead, a note passed via the support staff or admin team on the gate will be passed on.
  • Use the Class WhatsApp groups to share concerns, disagreements about a school decision or action. The leadership team are not present in these groups and are unable to take action. Please do speak to the Head Teacher or Deputy Head on the gate or make an appointment so that we can hear your concern in person. This is often the quickest way to resolve a concern.
  • Speak to other parents about incidents that happen during school time. Bring incidents to a member of school staff so it can be investigated thoroughly and resolved.
