Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to St John’s, a traditional school for the 21st Century.

At St John’s we pride ourselves on high standards in all areas of school life. As Headteacher, and having taught at the school for 15 years, I am proud to lead a dedicated and well- qualified team of staff who are committed not just to high academic standards, but also to nurturing and caring for each and every child in our school.

Although academic progress is extremely important to us, we are also determined to develop the ‘whole child’ by recognising that all subjects in the National Curriculum provide vital opportunities for children with different interests to excel. In all aspects of school life, we encourage a ‘Growth Mindset’ approach; we believe that children can achieve anything if
they put their minds to it through practice, effort and self-belief and we celebrate these skills
in all facets of school life, including in our weekly whole school assemblies.

At St John’s, we take pride in both our excellent academic achievements, as well as our outstanding track record of developing children through the musical, artistic and sporting opportunities that we offer both inside and outside of the classroom (notably, we have been the Essex Sports Hall Athletics Champions for the past 10 years). Furthermore, our six school values of Achievement, Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Forgiveness and Resilience develop our pupils’ character and attitude, ensuring that they leave St John’s happy, well rounded and prepared for the next step in their education.

Finally, I am well aware of the importance of choosing the right school for
your child. There is so much more to the process than just collecting and comparing
information and data and therefore we encourage openness and would warmly welcome
prospective parents to pay us a visit to see why we are so proud of our school.

On 1st April 2018 St John's School formally became part of the Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust (EFSP) to strengthen our links with other local schools and ensure that we are ready to support children for many years to come.

I look forward to welcoming you to St John’s.
