Our New Library is coming!

We are writing to inform you of another exciting project at St John’s that is coming up over the next few weeks. We are in the process of creating a brand new library! As you know, raising the profile of reading is one of our big focuses this year, so we ask that you please take note of the following key events that we need your help with:

Book Donation Day

As we are now dedicating a whole room in the school to reading, we need to fill it with books! Do you have any children’s books (from ages 5-12 years) that you no longer require at home? If so, we are asking for your kind donations. So as to manage the amount of books that we may receive, we are asking for you to keep hold of anything that you would like to donate and bring it into the barn in a plastic bag on Wednesday 1st February 2017. The barn will be open from 8:30- 9:00am and again from 3:00-3:30pm. Thank you so much in advance for your help and please spread the word to any friends/ neighbours/ relatives that could be of assistance.

Decorating Day

We are also looking for volunteers (please, please, please!) to help us transform what is currently a ‘group room’ to a brand new ‘sparkling’ library. Would you, or do you know of anyone else who would like to come in after school on Wednesday 1st February 2017 to help us paint the room and build bookcases (purchased from Ikea)? If so, your help would be very much appreciated. On that day, we will be opening the school from 3:30- 7:00pm where we aim to have it finished. If you would like to kindly volunteer, please could you return the slip below to your class teacher with the times that you can offer (we will respond when we have your offer). Please note, if you have any dust sheets, paint rollers, masking tape or simple DIY equipment (for constructing the bookshelves) then it would be great if you could bring those along.

Yours thankfully,

Mr Jarmain and Mrs Clarke
